IGNORING the warnings of our ally Israel and abandoning COMMON SENSE, Obama is making offers to ALLY WITH IRAN against ISIS, the Islamic State terrorists wreaking war and havoc across the Levant.

Of course, with or without such an ill advised strategy, there has been NO mention of ANY DEMAND by this administration for the freedom and safe passage of jailed Pastor Saeed Abedini, a U.S. citizen who marked his SECOND anniversary of brutal imprisonment and torture in Iran for the "crime" of being a CHRISTIAN in the brutal fundamentalist Islamic "republic."

In an exclusive interview with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, CNN's Christiane Amanpour asked whether or not he was "prepared to deliver a gesture of goodwill" to those Americans imprisoned in Iran, their families and the world as he addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.

Amanpour asked:

You have – and I'm going to read here – a group of American Iranians, a British Iranian in prison right now. Jason Rezaian, a journalist for "The Washington Post," and his wife; Saeed Abedini, who's a Christian; Amir Hekmati, who's been in jail for a long time; the English Iranian Ghoncheh Ghavami, who's also in jail. Without charge, without anything and we don't understand why and we would like to know whether you're prepared to deliver a gesture of goodwill to these people, to their families and to the world whom you're addressing from here at the United Nations.

A smirking Rouhani responded:

We never wish for any individuals, Iranian or non-Iranian, be it in Iran or in other countries to be imprisoned or detained or be put on trial. But naturally, as a matter of course, individuals can be suspected of something by the judiciary, by the security organization and they are pursued. We are also worried about some Iranians that are imprisoned in America or in other countries, but through the will or by the actions of the United States of America and we wish for all of their fates to be resolved peacefully and successfully as soon as possible. We wish that for all families, for all parents, for all relatives who have good news about their detained relatives. But as the president – as the chief executive of my branch, it is – my goal is for the laws to be respected. And I do hope that regarding every single person that you have named in your question or other people that are being subjected to detention or investigation, whether it be Iranian or a general foreign citizens or dual citizenship but everyone that you named who have dual citizenship, according to our nation's laws, are Iranian citizens only. We do not accept dual citizenship. But the bottom line is that our aim is for the laws to be respected at every step of the way. If they do go through trial, their trial be fairly executed for them to have access to every legal defense allowed under the law, proper defensive representation through qualified attorneys and we do hope that their families can gain the certainty that fairness and justice will be employed towards the cases and case files of their loved ones.

Rouhani took care not to mention that Pastor Saeed DID NOT receive a fair trial, and that he is being denied necessary medical treatment. Rouhani also omitted that ISIS terrorists IN THE SAME PRISON are threatening to kill Saeed for being a Christian – at the first opportunity.

Rouhani further failed to mention that the United Nations Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention SPECIFICALLY detailed how Pastor Saeed's conviction was "arbitrary" and he should be immediately RELEASED due to the numerous violations of international law in his case.

Thousands gathered around the world to mark the second anniversary of Saeed's UNFAIR and UNJUST imprisonment.

In August, American Pastor Saeed Abedini let it be known he has been targeted for murder by savage ISIS terrorists ALSO being held in Iran's notoriously brutal Rajaee Shahr Prison.

Abedini has communicated with his family to let them know other prisoners have told him the ISIS inmates are making plans to kill him.

The only thing standing in the way of the barbaric ISIS convicts attacking Pastor Saeed is the help of his fellow prisoners and taking shelter in his cell during daily exercise time, when the different sections of prisoners have the opportunity to mingle and emboldened Sunni ISIS inmates might stike.

The risk to Pastor Saeed's survival was bad enough when this American man of God was facing death threats "just" from Iranian prison guards and run-of-the-mill murderers – but now it is getting worse with each passing day he remains in prison!

American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow warns this latest threat is an "extremely dangerous development" and "puts Pastor Saeed's life at grave risk."

"We call on President Obama and Secretary Kerry to intervene immediately to secure Pastor Saeed's release and to ensure that he is protected during this transfer to freedom. Pastor Saeed, who is approaching his second year of imprisonment in Iran, must be returned to his family without delay," Sekulow said in a statement several weeks ago.

Over the next several months, all this is in addition to giving Iran carte blanche to continue domestically enriching uranium – a key ingredient for a nuclear weapon and something that Congress has opposed.

"As part of the JPOA [Joint Plan of Action] extension, Iran will be allowed access in tranches over the next four months to $2.8 billion from its restricted overseas assets," a senior White House official told reporters on a conference call this past weekend. "Those assets, which are largely unavailable to Iran, are more than $100 billion."

The $2.8 BILLION in unfrozen oil assets is in addition to $4.2 BILLION already unfrozen in the past six months! And according to a Washington Free Beacon report, the U.S. will also continue to provide Iran with sanctions RELIEF on everything from auto imports to oil exports and gold trading!

In exchange: We get more time to fruitlessly negotiate a "nuclear deal" with Iran in a four month "extension" past the July 20 cut-off of the existing, drop-dead six month deadline!

"It was President Obama's determination out of that meeting that it was worth pursuing an extension, given the progress that had been made, and given the potential prospect for comprehensive resolution," officials told reporters.

As Sunni ISIS rises as a brutal military power in the region, and as deteriorating political and military developments in Iraq implicate and complicate U.S. relations with Shia Iran far more deeply than our previous, already strained relations, exactly what we feared Obama would allow has come to pass.

Now Pastor Saeed is EVEN MORE at the mercy of the Iranian Ayatollah-cracy – which has given up all pretense of acting as a good faith international "partner" in the community of nations. But since we may be now too weak in the region to prevent Iran interceding unilaterally, Congress MUST insist that Iran's sending troops into Iraq to fight for the Shiite factions against invading, marauding Sunni jihadis poses unacceptable risks to our citizens, and the U.S. will not tolerate such a venture unless and until Pastor Saeed Abedini, and all other Westerners presently held by the IRI, the Islamic Republic of Iran, have been surrendered to the United States or to the U.N. For the prospect of a freer field of action in Iraq and more latitude with their nuclear program, Iran MIGHT release prisoners to the West via the U.N.

Saeed Abedini is now openly threatened with slaughter by Sunni ISIS terror convicts held in prison with him! ISIS has BEHEADED other innocent Americans in the region. Pastor Saeed has been ruthlessly beaten at both the hospital where, because of international outcry he was being treated for injuries from previous beatings, and at the hellish Rajaee Shahr prison. His health and now his very life is in GREAT peril! Will the IRI protect him AT ALL from the ISIS terror inmates? If things should go ill for Iran in Gaza, Iraq or Syria, it is very likely that Pastor Saeed will be retaliated against and further brutalized – even MURDERED.

Thanks to YOUR activism, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution calling for the release of Pastor Saeed, as well as all others "detained on account of their religious beliefs." NOW we must compel Washington to FOLLOW THROUGH!

The resolution is a statement of the sense of the Senate and does not hold any legislative power.

It was passed without opposition and reads in part:

"Resolved, that the Senate – (1) recognizes that freedom of religious belief and practice is a universal human right and a fundamental freedom of every individual, regardless of race, sex, country, creed, or nationality, and should never be arbitrarily abridged by any government; (2) recognizes that governments have a responsibility to protect the fundamental rights of their citizens; and (3) calls on the Government of Iran to immediately release Saeed Abedini and all other individuals detained on account of their religious beliefs."

The resolution was introduced by Senator James Risch of Idaho and co-sponsored by 11 other Senators, including Rand Paul of Kentucky, Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida. A similar resolution, H.Res. 147 was passed 11/20/13 UNANIMOUSLY in the House.

Still, Congress must MORE aggressively insist the feckless Obama administration intensify pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran – for whom, as Sen. Ted Cruz wisely notes, "this abuse of an American citizen for peacefully practicing his faith, materially undermines any suggestion that they have moderated their oppressive policies."

While Secretary of State John Kerry and the White House have called for Pastor Saeed's release, and the U.S. House of Representatives held an emotional hearing that highlighted his persecution, MUCH more must be done – NO real geopolitical pressure has yet been applied AT ALL. Pastor Saeed's case has been argued before the United Nations, and more nations are becoming involved.

Loes Bijnen, a Dutch diplomat and human rights specialist in Tehran from 1999 to 2004, describes the Rajaee Shahr prison as a place where "political prisoners have to share cells with dangerous criminals like murderers, rapists and drug addicts who don't hesitate to attack their cell mates. They have nothing to lose: many of them are condemned to death anyway. Murders or unexplained deaths are a regular occurrence."

One gruesome image from Rajaee Shar showed some of 24 political prisoners hanged in a single day in 2009. To this day, no one knows their identities nor their alleged crimes.

CNSNews.com reports Bijnen quoted this excerpt from a letter smuggled out of the prison from an inmate serving a life sentence:

"This is a different world, much like the Hell depicted in movies, full of fire and smoke," the prisoner wrote. "A world filled with burnt, black, disheveled faces, naked bodies covered with sweat and red marks from the sting of lice. A world filled with torn trousers, scraps of which are used as belts; bare and filthy feet; clothes worn inside out and covered with lice; torn, mismatched slippers. A world in which you are exposed to polluted air, the extreme smell of putrid waste, overflowing sewage from toilets, the toxicity of dry vomit, infectious phlegm, and the body odor from bodies in close proximity, rarely given the opportunity to bathe – all coming to a climax with the smell of urine by those who are unable to control themselves."

CNSNews.com reports another alarming report on what Saeed Abedini can be expected to face based on an open letter written by Kurdish political prisoner Zanyar Moradi, smuggled out from the prison last January. Moradi claims that he and his cousin and co-accused, Loghman Moradi, had been tortured for nine months.

"They would beat us so hard that we could not walk, even today I still suffer from side effects of torture – my back is hurting and I have two fractured vertebrate. The torturers told us that if we did not confess to everything they told us that they would rape us and we just signed whatever they put in front of us. And now we are waiting for the hanging rope of death."
